Bar Basso

Milano

I love bars and restaurants that have a rich history and interesting stories to share. Bar Basso is one of my absolute favorites and every time I visit Milan, I always try to stop by for coffee or #negronisbagliato

Bar Basso was founded in 1947 and Negroni Sbagliato is a famous Italian drink that was created in 1960s in Milan, at the same bar.
Legend has it that a bartender at the bar wanted to make a Negroni cocktail but accidentally grabbed a bottle of sparkling wine instead of gin. Without realizing his mistake, he mixed the sparkling wine with Campari and sweet vermouth. This mistake gave birth to a new variation of the Negroni, which was later named the "Sbagliato," meaning "mistaken" or "wrong" in Italian.
The combination of Campari, sweet vermouth, and sparkling wine made the Negroni Sbagliato a popular drink, and it became an instant hit. It is often served over ice, with an orange slice or twist for added flavor.
The Negroni Sbagliato is a fascinating drink that makes me think about how unexpected twists of fate can lead to the most exceptional moments and creations.
